State Bank notifies banking hours to facilitate taxpayers
In order to facilitate taxpayers, the State Bank of Pakistan
(SBP) has issued guidelines regarding banking hours and the clearing and
settlement of tax receipts on June 27, 28, and 30.
On Tuesday, June 27, all banks and SBP Banking Services
Corporation (BSC) field offices will remain open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm to
enable same-day clearing. Similarly, on Wednesday, June 28, branches of banks
that typically operate on Saturdays will remain open from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
for same-day clearing, according to the SBP.
The NBP Custom House branch will also remain open on Friday from
9:00 am to 5:30 pm for a special clearing scheduled on July 3 at 9:00 am (with
a value date of June 30, 2023), as stated in the press release.
In preparation for the closing exercise for the fiscal year
2022-23, scheduled for July 3, 2023, the SBP's core banking system, along with
the Pakistan Real-time Interbank Settlement Mechanism, will operate with a
value date of June 30.
Banks and the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies
will accordingly designate June 30 as a working day in their systems to
facilitate the settlement of special clearings, which will take place on July 3
with a value date of June 30.
