Mashreq Pakistan and PTCL join hands to expedite digital evolution

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Mashreq Pakistan, a prominent division of Mashreq, a leading financial institution in the MENA region, have joined forces in a pact aimed at enhancing primary data center colocation services. This collaboration will be facilitated at PTCL’s Tier-III Data Center facility.

In a distinguished gathering featuring Mohamed Abdel Razek, Group Head of Technology, Transformation and Information at Mashreq, Muhammad Hamayun Sajjad, CEO of Mashreq Pakistan, and Umar Farooqi, Group Director Enterprise PTCL, the agreement was formally inked. The signing ceremony took place at the PTCL Data Center II in Karachi, graced by Mashreq Pakistan’s Chief Information Officer, Khurram Abid, and PTCL’s Group Chief Business Services Officer, Zarrar Hasham Khan.

Under this agreement, PTCL will provide Mashreq Pakistan with cutting-edge infrastructure and platform solutions, incorporating the latest technology and managed security features. Mashreq is actively pursuing a restricted license from the State Bank of Pakistan to commence pilot digital retail banking operations in Pakistan.

Commenting on the partnership, Mohamed Abdel Razek, Group Head of Technology, Transformation and Information at Mashreq, expressed satisfaction, stating, “We are delighted to collaborate with PTCL as our trusted partner for infrastructure and platform hosting, integral to the Bank’s digital transformation strategy. This partnership marks a significant stride in our approach to infrastructure, platforms, and data management. Leveraging PTCL’s expertise in data centers and telecommunications, Mashreq aims for improved operational efficiency, enhanced reliability, and reduced time-to-market for products and services.”

Echoing this sentiment, Muhammad Hamayun Sajjad, CEO of Mashreq Pakistan, emphasized, “Mashreq's digital initiatives and partnerships are crafted to surpass customer and partner expectations, driving digital transformation and fostering financial inclusion across Pakistan.
