World Bank extends support to FBR reforms

World Bank appreciates initiatives of FBR  

Najy Benhassine, the World Bank’s Country Director for Pakistan, along with a team of senior officials including Tobias Akhtar Haque (Lead Country Economist), Lucy Pan (Senior Economist), and Irum Touqeer (Public Sector Specialist), visited the headquarters of Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

During their visit, they met with FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial to discuss the FBR's ambitious Transformation Plan.

Chairman Langrial presented the government’s vision for overhauling the FBR, providing a detailed overview of the Prime Minister-approved plan. He emphasized the goal of enhancing revenue growth while ensuring compliance through key reforms in tax policy, digitalization, human resource development, anti-smuggling measures, and broad-based tax administration improvements.

Najy Benhassine expressed full support for these initiatives and reaffirmed the World Bank’s ongoing commitment to aiding Pakistan in its revenue mobilization efforts.
