Sirajuddin Aziz assumes office as Banking Ombudsman after swearing-in
In a distinguished ceremony at the presidential residence,
President Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath of office to Sirajuddin Aziz, who
has taken up the esteemed position of banking ombudsman. The event, in line
with clause (2) of Article 203-C of the Constitution, marks the commencement of
Aziz's responsibilities in this critical role.
Earlier this month, Aziz's appointment as the banking ombudsman
received approval from Sadiq Sanjrani, acting president at the time.
Sirajuddin Aziz brings a wealth of experience and expertise to
his new role, having held prominent banking positions across various countries,
including Pakistan, China, Hong Kong, the UK, Nigeria, and the UAE. Most
recently, he served with distinction at Habib Bank AG Zurich.
Throughout his illustrious career, Aziz has held esteemed
positions such as president and chief executive officer (CEO) in renowned
commercial banks within Pakistan.
As a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Pakistan (IBP), Aziz has
significantly contributed to the growth and development of the banking sector.
His association with IBP extends to his editorial role in the Journal of The
Institute of Bankers Pakistan, which he has diligently performed for over a
decade.
Beyond his banking achievements, Sirajuddin Aziz holds
membership in prestigious institutions like the Pakistan Institute of
International Affairs and the English Speaking Union of Pakistan. He has
actively served on the boards of several educational institutions and social
organizations.
Aziz is widely recognized for his insightful presentations at
esteemed universities and professional forums, where he covers an array of
topics related to finance and the economy. He has also been featured in
televised discussions on these subjects.
In addition to his contributions to the financial world, Aziz is
a prolific writer, regularly contributing articles to national and
international dailies, as well as various journals and magazines. His literary
accomplishments also include published works like "In Quest of
Mirage," "Bitter & Sweet: Life & Times of Dad,"
"The Essence of Islam," and "Emerging Dynamics of
