Bank Alfalah has taken significant steps to aid flood-impacted
communities, disbursing a total of Rs 970 million during Phase-2 in the first
half of 2023. The bank's efforts began with immediate rescue and relief during
Phase-1 in 2022, and in Phase-2, it initiated a comprehensive rehabilitation
and rebuilding initiative, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to empowering
communities and promoting sustainable development.
The funds have been directed towards critical sectors, including
healthcare, emergency care, housing, education, and livelihoods. Overall, Bank
Alfalah has disbursed a substantial amount to address the urgent needs of those
affected by the devastating floods.
In an extraordinary gesture, His Highness Sheikh Nahayan bin
Mubarak Al Nahayan, Chairman of Bank Alfalah, generously donated $10 million to
aid the flood-stricken areas in Pakistan last year. With the unwavering support
of the Board of Directors, the bank has adopted a two-pronged strategy to
redevelop communities in a sustainable, equitable, and financially inclusive
manner. This initiative tackles immediate needs while providing a comprehensive
framework for long-term rehabilitation.
During Phase-1, Bank Alfalah collaborated with reliable and
trusted non-governmental organizations (NGOs) across Pakistan, facilitating the
rescue and assistance of flood-affected individuals in the hardest-hit
locations.
Now, in Phase-2, Bank Alfalah is focused on rehabilitation and
rebuilding lives. This phase encompasses various key areas, including sustainable
housing, healthcare, education, and livelihood support. Through these concerted
efforts, Bank Alfalah aims to bring lasting positive change to the lives of
those impacted by the devastating floods.
