Disbursement of BISP payments through banks enhances
transparency: Kundi
Faisal Karim Kundi, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister
for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, remarked on Saturday that the
transparency of BISP payments to beneficiaries has been enhanced through the
implementation of a new disbursement mechanism involving direct transfers to
bank accounts.
He shared these remarks during his role as the chief guest at
the launch event of the Benazir Social Protection Accounts.
Kundi attributed the introduction of bank cards to the efforts
of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, highlighting that this move aims to
address previous concerns about deductions.
He also mentioned that complaints about deductions made by banks
were being tackled, especially since the distribution of devices was limited to
only two banks previously.
Now, with the support of the State Bank of Pakistan, the option
of payment through bank accounts has been expanded to cover seven districts
across the country.
