The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication
(MOITT) is actively encouraging the banking sector to develop products and
services that facilitate the IT (Information Technology) and ITES (Information
Technology Enable d Services) sector.
These sentiments were expressed by Ms. Aisha Humera
Chaudhry, Additional Secretary of MOITT, in a video message.
This video message was broadcasted to participants attending
the IT & ITES Awareness Seminar titled "SBP Policies Initiatives and
Schemes," jointly organized by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)
and MOITT, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan, held in Karachi on
Wednesday.

In her message, Ms. Aisha Humera Chaudhry emphasized their
commitment to facilitate IT & ITES products and services in collaboration
with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). She also highlighted
their dedication to ensuring a conducive business environment and encouraged
government departments to enhance their regulatory frameworks to further
support this sector.
Ms. Aisha Humera Chaudhry affirmed the Ministry of IT and
Telecom's ongoing support for IT & ITES services through IT-friendly
policies.
Earlier in the event, Raza Ahmad Sukhera, Chief Information
and Digital Officer of PSEB, briefed the attendees on the Ease of Doing
Business Initiatives and the policy development process at the federal
government level.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Asif Ali, Director of the
Exchange Policy Department at SBP, emphasized the comprehensive efforts being
made to facilitate the growth and expansion of the IT industry. He highlighted
the simplification of regulatory processes as a key focus to create a favorable
environment for the IT & ITES sector. Dr. Asif Ali also outlined the key
features of the Central Bank's policies and various initiatives aimed at
supporting the IT industry.
Pakistani
financial institutions report robust deposits
Ms. Shazia Khurram, Head of Branch and Premium Banking at
Meezan Bank, delivered a presentation on the bank's policies and procedures for
IT & ITES exporters and freelancers.
The speakers collectively called for the organization of
more events such as seminars, workshops, and training sessions to raise
awareness among the public, particularly IT professionals, regarding regulatory
policies and the services and products offered by banks to promote the growth
of the IT sector.
