Officials discuss climate change initiatives with senior
bankers
In a significant meeting, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Federal
Minister for Finance, Revenue & Economic Affairs, Ahmed Irfan Aslam,
Federal Minister for Law & Justice (also Minister for Climate Change &
Environment Coordination), and Akif Saeed, Chairman of SECP, paid a visit to
the Pakistan Banks' Association (PBA) office.
The delegation was warmly received by Muhammad Aurangzeb,
Chairman of PBA, and Tawfiq Hussain, CEO/Secretary General of PBA.

The primary agenda of the visit was to engage in discussions
with senior bankers regarding the establishment of the proposed Pakistan
Climate Change Fund, a strategic initiative led by the Ministry of Climate
Change & Environment Coordination. The focus of the conversations revolved
around the potential threats to Pakistan's socio-economic and environmental
sustainability posed by the impacts of Climate Change.
During the meeting, the attendees delved into the possible
role that banks in Pakistan could play in the establishment of the Pakistan
Climate Change Fund. The exchange aimed to explore collaborative efforts
between the government and the banking sector in addressing the challenges
posed by Climate Change for the nation's future.
