Asian Development Bank approves funding to strengthen healthcare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved $7.5 million to improve healthcare services in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, located in the country’s northwest, according to Pakistani state media reports on Thursday.

The funding will be used for a major project aimed at revamping Non-Teaching District Headquarters hospitals across the province. The initiative will enhance service delivery and modernize medical equipment at secondary healthcare facilities.

Since 1966, the ADB has committed more than $52 billion to Pakistan, one of its founding members, through a mix of public and private sector loans, grants, and other financial support to promote inclusive economic growth.

On December 14, Pakistan also signed a $330 million loan agreement with the ADB for the Integrated Social Protection Development Program’s additional financing.
