Imran Haleem Shaikh appointed next CEO of BankIslami
BankIslami Pakistan
Limited (PSX: BIPL) has reshuffled its top leadership, appointing Shahid
Hussain Jatoi as chairman of the Board of Directors and naming Deputy CEO Imran
Haleem Shaikh as the bank’s next President and Chief Executive Officer.
The decisions were taken at the newly elected board’s
first meeting on August 10, 2026, marking a significant change in the bank’s
leadership structure.
Jatoi has been appointed chairman for a three-year term,
effective immediately.
At the same meeting, the board decided to retain Rizwan
Ata as President and CEO until the completion of his existing three-year tenure
on September 28, 2026. The board also acknowledged and appreciated his
contributions during his time at the helm of the bank.

With the transition now set, Shaikh—who currently serves
as BankIslami’s Deputy CEO—will assume the roles of President and CEO for a
three-year term beginning September 29, 2026.
His appointment, however, remains subject to regulatory
approval from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
BankIslami formally communicated the leadership changes
through separate notices submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, outlining
the timeline for the transition at the country’s Islamic banking sector player.
The upcoming change will put Shaikh at the centre of BankIslami’s next phase
of growth, while Jatoi’s appointment is expected to provide continuity at the
board level.
