All commercial banks in Pakistan to observe closure on
Allama Iqbal Day
In accordance with the Government of Pakistan's earlier
announcement, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially declared a bank
holiday on November 9, 2023, in commemoration of Allama Iqbal Day.
As per the circular released by the State Bank of Pakistan,
it has been announced that "The State Bank of Pakistan will be closed on
Thursday, November 9, 2023, to observe the public holiday marking Allama Iqbal
Day, in compliance with the Government's directive."
Banks
to close for three days on Ashura
Consequently, on November 9 (Thursday), all commercial banks
in Pakistan will also remain closed, with regular operations resuming on
November 10 (Friday).
The Federal Government had previously issued a notification
designating November 9 as a public holiday nationwide in honor of Iqbal Day,
and this decision has now been extended to include the closure of banks on the
same day.
