SBP declares closure of banks in smog-affected districts
In response to the severe smog conditions in Punjab, the
State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced the temporary closure of branches
belonging to all commercial banks and microfinance banks (MFBs) in seven of the
most heavily affected districts on Friday, November 10, 2023.

commercial banks in Pakistan to observe closure on Allama Iqbal Day
As per a notification released by the Government of Punjab
on November 8, 2023, the SBP has mandated the closure of all bank/MFB branches
in the following areas: Lahore Division (comprising District Lahore, Nankana
Sahib, Sheikhupura, and Kasur), District Gujranwala, District Hafizabad,
District Sialkot, and District Narowal, effective on Friday, November 10, 2023.
This decision is outlined in a press release issued by the SBP on Wednesday.
Due to the regular weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday,
banking services will resume on Monday, November 13, 2023.
