State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced the declaration
of a bank holiday on Monday, December 25, 2023, in observance of Quaid-e-Azam
Day and Christmas, as per the announcement made by the Government of Pakistan.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the SBP
confirmed the closure of all its offices on December 25, 2023 (Monday) to mark
the public holiday honoring Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
Quaid-e-Azam Day is celebrated to honor the birth
anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, a day of
significant historical importance paying tribute to the visionary leader
pivotal in the country's creation.

to observe holiday on Eid Miladun Nabi
In addition, Christmas, widely celebrated as a religious
holiday, is also recognized as a public holiday in Pakistan, acknowledging the
Christian community's observance of the Holy birth.
The decision to declare a bank holiday was communicated to
the presidents and chief executives of all banks, development financial
institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks (MFBs) by the SBP. This measure
ensures that financial institutions nationwide align with the government's
directive, allowing their employees to observe the public holiday.
Bank customers are advised to plan their financial
transactions accordingly, considering the closure of banking services on
December 25, 2023. However, ATM services and online banking are expected to
remain operational during the holiday, providing customers with continued
access to essential banking functions.

The SBP encourages citizens to celebrate Quaid-e-Azam Day
and Christmas in a spirit of unity, tolerance, and harmony, fostering

emphasizing the significance of mutual respect and understanding during this
festive season.
