State Bank hosts Japanese pottery exhibition
Governor Jameel Ahmad of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)
inaugurated the Japanese pottery exhibition titled 'Yakishime -- Earth
Metamorphosis' at the State Bank Museum. The event, organized by the Japan
Foundation, is part of the Consulate General of Japan's efforts to promote
cultural exchange between Japan and Pakistan. Accompanied by SBP Deputy
Governor Saleem Ullah and senior bank management, Governor Jameel Ahmad
emphasized the significance of cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts
in fostering understanding and goodwill between nations.
The exhibition, jointly organized with the State Bank Museum
and the Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) Sindh, spans two weeks and
showcases over 80 pieces of yakishime, a ceramic technique involving
high-temperature firing of unglazed wares.

Governor Ahmad highlighted the enduring cultural ties
between Pakistan and Japan, stemming from the Cultural Agreement signed in
1957, and the historical collaboration between the financial institutions of
both countries.
Consul General of Japan, Hattori Masaru, expressed delight
at the Pakistani audience's interest in Japanese culture and pledged to
continue bringing cultural exchange programs to strengthen bilateral relations.
The exhibition, running until February 7, offers the people of Pakistan a
unique opportunity to experience the Japanese sensibility and aesthetic
associated with yakishime.
Alongside the pottery exhibition, the State Bank Museum will
host Japan-related lectures, workshops featuring calligraphy, indigo dye,
pottery, and origami, as well as the annual Japanese Calendar exhibition from
January 26 to February 7. The event, attended by diplomats, bankers, art
enthusiasts, and city dignitaries, is open to the public with free entrance
during the specified dates.
