Bank Alfalah and Habib University collaborate on Alfalah
Scholars Programme
Bank Alfalah, one of the leading commercial banks in Pakistan,
has joined forces with Habib University to establish a scholarship fund aimed
at supporting students pursuing higher education.
The fund will cover all educational expenses throughout the
four-year degree programme, providing financial assistance to deserving
students and ensuring their access to quality education.
Bank Alfalah has committed an annual c
ontribution of PKR 6.4
million, totaling PKR 25.6 million over four years, to support selected
applicants pursuing social sciences and engineering studies.
The programme will provide equal educational opportunities to
four high-merit and deserving students, with a focus on promoting inclusivity
for women and differently-abled applicants. The recipients of the scholarships
will be recognized as 'Alfalah Scholars'.
Wasif Rizvi, President of Habib University, highlighted the
shared commitment to academic excellence and the recognition of higher
education's profound impact on individuals and society in the collaboration
between Bank Alfalah and Habib University. He emphasized that the partnership
not only opens doors of opportunity for talented students but also enhances the
status of higher education in Pakistan.
Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, expressed his
pleasure in launching the scholarship fund in partnership with Habib
University, focusing on professional education in the social sciences and
engineering fields. He emphasized the importance of higher education as a
catalyst for personal growth, equipping individuals with relevant skills, and
contributing to the progress of the country. Bajwa stated that by investing in
quality education, they are shaping the future of talented youth and making a
significant contribution to the socioeconomic development of Pakistan.
Bank Alfalah is committed to creating a lasting impact and
establishing sustainable educational opportunities for students. The
scholarship fund aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by
promoting inclusive and quality education (SDG 4) and fostering partnerships
for the goals (SDG 17).
Through the scholarship programme, students will have the
opportunity to gain hands-on experience and enhance their educational journey
through initiatives facilitated by Bank Alfalah.
The bank also plans to organize workshops at Habib University,
inviting faculty and academia to discuss topics such as digital banking,
financial inclusion, and green banking, further contributing to the knowledge
and development of the students.
