Banker to be appointed Finance Minister of Pakistan
Respected banker Mohammad Aurangzeb is reportedly set to
assume the role of federal finance minister.
This development follows earlier speculation that Senator
Ishaq Dar would hold the position in the government led by Shehbaz Sharif.
Reports suggest that Senator Ishaq Dar has withdrawn from
contention for the finance minister post. Sources close to Prime Minister
Shehbaz Sharif have confirmed that Mohammad Aurangzeb will indeed be appointed
as the new finance minister. Aurangzeb purportedly attended a recent meeting
convened by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shortly after assuming office.
